Photo Illustrations

i think its showing photo realistic alteration. i think that the ducks were put into the photo and altered to look real.
I like it because it looks real. and even though i hate peeps this photo make them look cool.

I'm Sure that this is a photo made into art. it obvious that it was a picture then altered into art. but if you didn't know that that was possible then you would instantly think that it was a painting.which is why i like it.

this one is the composite image. i think this because it looks like they took pictures of these barbie heads and layered them into those cube things. I hate barbies and this makes them look really weird so i like this photo allot.

these are the staged illustration's. this first one of the barbie is obvious that it was set up. it looks possible to do very easily. i like this photo because it makes me laugh a little..
the second photo is also staged. it looks like they just put some money in her flowers. i like it because i think its cool they way they set it up. i think this photo was made to show how expensive weddings can be.

Travis Haughton
Genetic conditions
Judges problems:shouldn't have had a picture of a sing
the back of a head dominated the picture and took away from the moment, there was an arm blocking a face
things the judges liked: Had real moments, good use of levels
My Thoughts:i liked this portfolio, i also liked his picture of the girl doing a back flip. the levels were awesome. But his photos would have been better if you could see more.

Nick Adams

Judges problems:He had bad focus, he didn't have any good photo shoot ideas, badly framed.
Things The Judges Liked: They like the way he shot the cheerleaders, he got in the middle of the action and got the girl where your couldn't see her head.
My Thoughts: i really liked the way he could see where to go to take his pictures. you could tell that if her was just a Little to the left or right the photograph wouldn't have come out as good at all.

Josh Birnbaum
Basket ball players in wheel chairs
Things the judges liked: he got in the action to get the photos. he had good lighting.
Things the judges didn't like: he missed opportunities for good photos. bad angles. bad cropping.
My Thoughts:It was boring because he had allot of the same things.

Jordan Murph: Sports in general
He had good lighting and caught good unique moments
No surfer in his water shot so it just didn't fit, bad choice of photos for portfolio.Bad composition.
My thoughts: I thought it was an alright portfolio but it ended badly.

Recap:
they just looked at all the photos, and tired to decide who had an entirely good portfolio. the winner had no bad photos at all.

Winner:
he was really good at capturing the moment.but i wished he did more than sports.

sports shoot plan

1. football
2. I'm going to try and shoot my friends on Friday, but if not some time this weekend.
3. a picture of someone celebrating, of someone mad, of someone yelling.
4. someone making a touchdown, someone running

i think this is a formal portrait. i love the way the lighting is almost so dark on one side that you can't see his face. Plus the way his hand is placed on that window or what ever it is, it kind of makes you think or wonder what was the reason they did that effect, it makes you want to stop and look at the photo.
I read for about 20 minutes.
my favorite was juke box love song.

#1 Rolling Stone (January 22, 1981)Rolling Stone’s cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono was named the top magazine cover to appear since 1965. The image was photographed by renowned celebrity portraitist Annie Leibovitz mere hours before Lennon was shot on December 8, 1980. The photo was eventually used on the cover of Rolling Stone’s tribute issue to Lennon on January 22, 1981

i love this photograph i think that there is so much love conveyed between john and Yoko Ono. just the way that he is holding her shows how much he cares for her. and in a way how he cares for people and other things in general. the lighting is kind of dim and it looks a little dingy, which makes the two look a little earthy which he was. so much about him and Yoko Ono was conveyed in just this one photograph. i feel like I'm getting to know him and her just by looking at this photo. that's why i chose it as my favorite!

Cover History

Cover types

1. Early Magazine Covers

2. The Poster Cover

3. Pictures Married to Type

4. In the Forest of Words

1. early magazine covers resembled the covers of books. the rarely had large pictures or cover lines.often all they had on the cover was the title and the books author and publisher. (just like a book would.) it also had something to do with the fact that photography was at its best in that day.they later began to use drawing on the cover. often they had to be interpreted. like the fountain picture on the cover of mother magazine in 1844. most back then were bible readers and were used to interpreting things. such as the deep interpretation need for the water fountain picture. 2. as time went on the poster covers began to become the norm. although many of the pictures didn't even have anything to do with the articles presented inside, they were a big hit. they also used painting instead of photographs though good photography was available at this time.this is where the photography behind today's magazines started. they had few cover lines. if any. most were tiny and over shadowed by the picture. this type of cover was generally used to attract higher class readers. like the rolling stone issue of 2001. all that was on the cover was the title rolling stone and a picture of George Harrison. they assumed that the readers would know that the article was a tribute to the recently deceased former Beatle member.3. this layout where the photos appear to be married to the text show just how interact the design of a magazine is. the text and the picture look as if they were made for each other. the model in the photo is set in just the perfect way for text.and the text is made for the picture. they equally compliment each other just like a married couple should.4. this next type of magazine cover layout is what we see today a large picture surrounded by text.the pictures today often are covered completely by the cover lines.
